we take club culture seriously as a space for politics, community and creativity. Sitting at the intersections between aesthetic discourse, cultural theory, techno and civic engagement, OPULENCE is an audio-visual creative project with an aim to center queer folks, people of color and femme-identified artists working in the worlds of techno, experimental club music, club visuals, fashion, politics and cultural theory.

The techno world is still heavily focused on all-male line-ups, and all white-male line-ups at that. Our aim is to decolonise the DJ booth and the dance floor by centering and uniting marginalized techno and experimental club music artists as well as performance, new media and visual artists, cultural theorists, thinkers and makers. We aim to create a communal space for these artists as an antidote to the cis white male orientation of the creative industries.

OPULENCE is also a space for discourse. In addition to our club nights we also curate an innovative culture program of panels, talks and reading groups centered on questions of race, gender, sexuality, creativity, sound and aesthetics, closing the gaps between club culture, aesthetic theory and politics.

TECHNO. THEORY. AESTHETICS. NO BINARIES. opulence.
